Sheer delight, never has Shakespeare been so entertaining
THE BBC

The best known and most successful open-air Shakespeare company in Europe, The British Shakespeare Company, will visit the Prague Castle as part of its European summer tour.

From 21st until 23rd of August the BSC will play two from its most popular titles – the charming comedy A Midsummer Night’s Dream and the love charade Much Ado About Nothing.

Altogether three performances will take place within The Summer Shakespeare Festival, which thanks to The British Shakespeare Company will extend its programme to include three performances in English.

In the role of Titania we will see lovely Daniela Lavender: an actress orginally from Brazil who draws extra Shakespearean inspiration as she is married to world-famous actor and renowned Shakespearean Sir Ben Kingsley. The Prague Castle will wellcome also Mark Arden, Steven Blakeley, Louisa Lytton, Gabriel Thomson and Robert J Williamson.

Performed in beautiful Elizabethan costumes by a cast of 16 of Britain’s finest professional Shakespearian actors, the shows includes live music and hilarious comedy all set in the stunning natural surroundings that Shakespeare intended for his plays.

As Robert J. Williamson, Artistic Director and Lead Actor says, “A Midsummer Night’s Dream is Shakespeare’s most celebrated magical comic tale of young lovers who are at the mercy of a forest full of mystical fairies and the tangled web of deceit that weaves around them al.“

Much Ado About Nothing performed by BSC brings to Prague “Shakespeare’s popular playful comedy; the trickery and plotting against the young lovers, Hero and Claudio, provides the essence of the play, which is contrasted by the merry war of the sexes between Beatrice and Benedick who indulge in some of Shakespeare’s most refined witty sparing“.

As a performer of Shakespeare's works, BSC is second in size and reputation only to the Royal Shakespeare Company. They have performed in London's West End, at major repertory theatres and even at Royal Palaces.
