Summer Shakespeare Festival 2007

Most awaited news 2007 was The Tempest directed by Jakub Korčák starring Jan Tříska as enslaved Caliban and trio of top-class Slovak actors as Duke of Milan Prospero (alternation Dušan Jamrich, Emil Horváth and Martin Huba). The Czech part of The Festival welcomed double language Czech-Slovak comedy As You Like It (directed by E. Horváth), in repeat performance we have seen Othello, Twelfth Night and The Merchant of Venice. The Summer Shakespeare Festival expanded to another stage in Prague – except for The Supreme Burgrave´s House the plays were performed also on courtyard of Liechtenstein´s Palace. The Slovak part of The Festival adapted A Midsummer Night's Dream starring Sabina Laurinová, Oldřich Vízner and Táňa Pauhofová. The performance was introduced in Bratislava and for the first time also in Košice. Despite the summer 2007 was extremely cold and rainy The Summer Shakespeare Festival visited 87.000 people.
