Summer Shakespeare Festival 2008

Opening of The Comedy of Errors directed by Ivan Rajmont starring Jitka Čvančarová, Martin Pechlát, Filip Rajmont and David Suchařípa. The same play was adapted by director Peter Gábor with actors from theatre of Ostrava and his playful show full of situation humour captured the Slezskoostrava´s Castle, where The Festival gained another stable stage apart from Košice. As guest performance was introduced in Ostrava Polish Teatr ludowy, which performed Richard III directed by and starring famous theatre and film actor Jerzyho Stuhra. The Czech part welcomed A Midsummer Night's Dream, which was news the year before in Bratislava, as rerun we have seen The Tempest, Othello, As You Like It and The Merchant of Venice, for two evenings arrived to Prague Macbeth from Divadlo Husa na provázku directed by Martin Huba. The Slovak premiere was Antony and Cleopatra – so the programme appeared valuable Shakespeare´s historic drama. The Festival introduced 10 titles – at that time most titles of the history of the festival- and took place on six stages in five cities. More here
